The Colombo Lotus Tower (368 meters) is South Asia’s highest freestanding building, and a visit to the top provides visitors with unrestricted views of Colombo and the neighboring landscape and sea. Additionally, a telecom museum, a shopping complex (just in the basement), a rotating fine dining restaurant, and indoor and outdoor viewing decks are all part of the tower, which holds a lot of telecommunications equipment.

The National Museum is one of the must see sights of Colombo housed in a splendid edifice that was established in 1876 by the British governor of Sri Lanka during the period. It is Sri Lanka’s largest museum. Moreover, a pleasant and serene green park surrounds this magnificent structure. The museum has statues and exhibits that portray the tale of ancient Sri Lanka. The museum also houses relics belonging to Sri Lanka’s previous royal family, such as the King’s throne and crown. There is a lot of art, sculptures, swords, firearms, masks, and statues from both the ancient and colonial periods in Sri Lanka. It’s a fantastic museum!

Among the must see sights of Colombo, this massive green park is Colombo’s Central Park (one of the city’s only significant open-space areas), and it offers spots to sit and enjoy (or avoid) the sun. In addition, the park contains several fountains and a small zoo. The playground will be a hit with the kids. The Cenotaph (war memorial statue) and the National Library, both of which are located in the park, can be visited. The park also has a massive, 15-foot-tall Buddha statue, the country’s largest cast brass Buddha statue.

Galle Face Green
Galle Face Green, located immediately south of the Fort Area, is a long expanse of green grass adjacent to Colombo’s limited beach and sea promenade. Originally cleared by the Dutch to provide unobstructed sight for the canons, it is now a lovely and serene spot excellent for strolling, jogging, playing football, kite flying, and cricket. In the afternoons, especially on Sundays, the promenade is crowded with couples and families out for a stroll. Galle Face Green is an excellent location for watching the sunset.

Sri Lanka Planetarium: Unique Sight to See in Colombo
The first (and only) planetarium in Sri Lanka might be a wonderful way to escape the blazing heat. The University of Colombo campus houses the planetarium. A public entrance is located across from Independence Square. The enormous theater has 570 seats and a domed ceiling with projections of the night sky and its constellations. Besides the exhibitions and activities, the building is visually appealing. Prominent modernist churches in Liverpool, Britain, and Brazil inspired the lotus flower design.
