Lima is the capital of Peru. It lies on the Pacific coast. The Plaza de Armas is in the main square of the old town of Lima. Many of its buildings are well preserved and you can see a lot of colonial architecture. Having said that, Lima is a thriving metropolitan city.

To understand Peru’s ancient history, visit Museo Larco. A museum which explains 5000 years of Peru’s ancient civilisations. Its erotic treasures draw much attention. Moreover there is an outstanding collection of art and treasures. It is the number one thing to do on visitors’ bucket lists. Not withstanding there are other museums rich in culture. The Amano Pre-Columbian Textile Museum displays textiles and ceramics in chronological order. It is a private collection well worth the visit. In addition there are other museums such as the Museo de Arte de Lima, Museo Pedro de Osma and Museo Mate. Another popular activity in Lima is to see the dancing water fountains as they change colour to music. This is the Circuito Magico del Agua and draws in many spectators. For this go to Jr. Madre de Dios.

Nevertheless you can escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you are in search of tranquility, then go to the Miraflores Broadwalk. It offers a spectacular view of the Miraflores area, and also the Pacific Ocean. Besides from the many green terraces you may see people parasailing from the hill. A green walkway it is a broadwalk that is well appreciated by tourists and locals alike. Other peaceful activities include a visit to Nor Yauyos-Cochas Landscape Reserve , Canta Mountain, Parque de La Amistad and Parque El Olivar.

Moreover Lima has its religious side too. Check out Iglesia de las Nazarenas and Iglesia de San Pedro. Additionally there is Iglesia de San Francisco which also hosts a convent.

Albeit other attractions include Marcahuasi Stone Forest, Caral Archaeological Site and and the pre-Inca ceremonial site of Huaca Pucllana, to name a few.
