Some of the Highlights of Fetesti As Shown By Our Gay Friendly Tour Guide
Fetești, a small but historically significant town in Romania, lies in the southeastern region of the country within Ialomița County. Positioned near the banks of the Danube River, the town plays an important role as a transportation and railway hub connecting several parts of Romania. Although it is quieter than major Romanian cities, Fetești offers visitors a glimpse into everyday life in this part of the country.
The town developed mainly during the nineteenth century when railway routes expanded across Romania. Because of its strategic location near the Danube and major rail lines, Fetești quickly grew into an important connection point for trade and travel. As a result, the town became known for its railway bridges and transportation links that connected the region with the port city of Constanța on the Black Sea.
One of the most notable engineering landmarks in the area is the historic King Carol I Bridge, often associated with the nearby town of Cernavodă. Designed by the famous Romanian engineer Anghel Saligny, this bridge once ranked among the longest bridges in Europe. It played a key role in connecting Romania’s inland regions with the Black Sea coast.
