José is a Zapotec weaver from Teotitlán del Valle. He studied beekeeping and forestry, and when he finished high school, he became a certified nature guide. A few years later he then got his license as a cultural guide. In addition, combining both experiences, Jose obtained certification as a tour guide by the Mexican official standards board for both eco-tourism and archaeology. Besides guiding, he also studied forestry and is running a sustainable project for a Mezcal brand in the central valleys of Oaxaca.
José says, “I offer experiences in places that aren’t well known or remote, and my passions are the textiles, mountains, indigenous cultures, respect for animals and ecology.”
