On the summit of Trapezitsa hill, you’ll find a ruined stronghold with repaired ramparts. Unlike Tsarevets, this fort is mostly in ruins. It features a museum with an interesting history of Trapezitsa, including objects found on the hill such as jars and tools. The entrance sits in Veliko Tarnovo’s Asenov neighborhood, with plenty of signage to guide you. During summer, a funicular runs to the top. However, trekking up through the main gate is far more interesting.
