Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary sits 30 minutes away from Siliguri and covers more than 150 sq km. It was initially a game sanctuary in 1955 and four years later was made into a sanctuary in order to protect the two animals that were going extinct in India; the Bison and Royal Bengal Tiger. Now you can also see birds like the Great Hornbill, swallow, sunbird, mammals like the Himalayan Black Bear, the Clouded Leopard, Indian elephants, jungle cat, and many other faunas.
