However after a period of decline following the rise in popularity of Fez, the royal sultans came back to enjoy Marrakesh and built splendid palaces. El Badi Palace for example although past its prime, was in its splendour during the 16th century. Under the reign of Saadian King Ahmad al-Mansur. Albeit other attractions include the photograph museum Maison de la Photographie, and for Moroccan art try Dar Si Said Museum. Another place to visit is the Saadian Tombs.
